Our Day in Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach: The Good, the Bad, and the Appetizers Breakfast at Elly Mae's at The Luminary We started our adventure with a lovely breakfast at Elly Mae’s at The Luminary. Kathie had her gluten-free Eggs Benedict, and we both treated ourselves to screwdrivers – because why settle for just orange juice when you can have a splash of fun in it? Loki was eyeing our plates, but he’ll have to wait for his bacon treats. Fort Myers Beach and Times Square Progress Next, we headed over to Fort Myers Beach to see how Times Square is coming along. It’s been three years since the hurricane, and they’re still rebuilding. It’s getting there, but right now, the vibe is more “construction chic” than “beach paradise.” Hang in there, Fort Myers! Margaritaville Then, it was off to Margaritaville. You know the saying – it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, and today it was right where we were! The margaritas were on point, and the laid-back atmosphere was just what we needed. Plus, any place that encourages daytime margaritas is A-OK in our book. Beach Walk to Lani Kai We took a stroll along the beach towards Lani Kai. The only thing open was a little corner bar, and to be honest, it didn’t exactly scream “must-visit.” We took a pass and decided to keep our beach walk going. Sometimes, the view is better than the bar! The YukaTan and Nervous Nellie's We checked out the YukaTan next, but it was a gluten lover’s paradise – not ideal for Kathie. So, we headed to Nervous Nellie’s, which has finally reopened. We enjoyed a relaxing drink with a great view of the river. It was a much-needed pause in our day, and Loki seemed to appreciate the calm water view too. Doc Ford's Our final stop was Doc Ford’s. We were hoping to end on a high note, but the ambiance and appetizers left us underwhelmed. Not really what we were looking for, so we won’t be rushing back. But hey, you win some, you lose some. And that’s a wrap on our day exploring Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach! We had a mix of experiences – some great, some not so much – but that’s what makes these adventures fun and unpredictable. Thanks for coming along with us! If you’ve got recommendations for our next outing, drop them in the comments. We’ll see you on the next adventure!
